✨Inspiration
Many people experience strong gut feelings, but often dismiss them without fully understanding what those signals mean. Intuition is frequently described as irrational or unreliable, which causes people to either ignore it completely or rely on it without reflection.
However, research shows that intuition plays an important role in decision-making.
- 58% of organizations report making many decisions based on experience or intuition.
- 73% of executives say they rely on intuition when making important decisions.
- Studies have shown up to 90% accuracy in certain tasks when decisions involve instinctive judgement.
Despite this, many individuals struggle to explain why certain situations or people feel “off.” This often leads to regret after ignoring their instincts.
We wanted to design a tool that helps people recognize, reflect on, and better understand their intuition.
🔥What it does
Ignis is a digital tool that helps users recognize, reflect on, and understand their intuitive signals in everyday situations.
The app encourages users to:
- Log moments where they experienced strong intuition
- Reflect on outcomes after decisions
- Recognize patterns in emotional or physical reactions
- Build confidence in their decision-making
Through guided reflection and pattern recognition, Ignis helps transform gut feelings into meaningful insights users can learn from over time.
🛠️How we built it
Ignis was designed as a mobile UX prototype focusing on intuitive interaction and self-reflection.
We designed the experience using Figma, creating:
- A structured onboarding flow that captures emotional, physical, and situational intuition signals
- A chatbot interface where users can reflect on recent gut-feeling experiences
- A reflection log that stores past intuition moments
- An intuition map that highlights locations where users previously felt unsafe
The visual design uses gradients, glowing UI elements, and a flame mascot to represent intuition becoming stronger through reflection.
🚧Challenges we ran into
One of the biggest challenges was translating an abstract concept like intuition into clear and useful digital features.
Some key challenges included:
- Designing onboarding questions that capture physical and emotional intuition signals
- Ensuring the reflection process felt natural and supportive rather than overwhelming
- Maintaining visual consistency across many screens while keeping the interface simple
We also had to carefully design interactions so users could reflect on instincts without feeling like the app was making decisions for them.
🏆Accomplishments that we're proud of
We’re proud of turning a complex psychological concept into a cohesive user experience.
Key accomplishments include:
- Designing a guided reflection system through the chatbot
- Creating a reflection log that helps users track intuition over time
- Building an intuition map that connects instincts to real-world environments
- Developing a consistent visual system that reinforces the idea of intuition growing stronger with awareness
📚What we learned
Through this project we learned how difficult it can be to design for self-awareness and emotional reflection.
We learned that:
- People often experience strong intuitive signals but lack tools to interpret them
- Reflection is important for helping users recognize patterns in their instincts
- Designing for psychological experiences requires simple, supportive interactions
This project helped us understand how design can support better decision-making and personal awareness.
🚀What's next for Ignis
In the future, Ignis could expand by introducing more advanced technologies to better detect and analyze intuition signals.
Possible future developments include:
- Machine learning insights to identify deeper patterns in user reflections
- Wearable integrations to detect physical signals such as heart rate
- More advanced location-based alerts for intuition zones
- Personalized feedback to help users build stronger decision confidence
Our long-term goal is to help users develop stronger intuition awareness and make more confident everyday decisions.
