Inspiration

Many people dream of experiencing iconic moments like the FIFA World Cup Final, championship games, concerts, and historic events, but most will never have the chance to be there in person. We wanted to make those memories accessible to everyone.

What it does

ifIWasThere.ai lets users upload a selfie and instantly generate realistic photos and videos of themselves attending major events, creating memories from moments they never actually experienced.

How we built it

We combined AI image generation, face-aware scene composition, event-specific prompts, and video generation models to place users naturally into real-world event environments

Challenges we ran into

Creating realistic crowd integration, maintaining facial consistency, and generating believable event atmospheres while keeping the experience fast and simple.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We built a working product that can transform a single selfie into immersive event memories within minutes and create highly shareable social content.

What we learned

Users care less about perfect realism and more about emotional connection. The feeling of "I was there" is often more important than technical perfection.

What's next for ifIWasThere.ai

Expand to more events, improve personalization, generate longer cinematic videos, and allow users to create entire alternate life experiences from a single photo.
