Inspiration
If You Saw Through His Eyes was inspired by the idea that every person lives in a unique world shaped by their memories and senses. I wanted to turn nostalgic childhood moments in Egypt into a poetic AI visual journey about perception.
What it does
The film takes viewers through a child’s sensory world: light, sound and emotion. It shows how these early experiences shape the way each of us sees life.
How I built it
I created the film using generative AI video tools, mainly inside Freepik. Each scene was refined through color grading, timing adjustments and compositing to keep the narrative flow cinematic and smooth.
Challenges we ran into
• AI videos were difficult to control, especially matching exact camera movement and character actions.
• Achieving consistency across different shots needed many iterations.
• I used Kling first and last frame to stabilize movement, but it still needed manual fixes.
• Complex scenes like showing action inside a TV while keeping the outside shot unchanged were very hard to generate in one attempt.
Accomplishments that we are proud of
• I solved the TV shot by generating the TV with a green screen, tracking it in After Effects and inserting the AI-generated content inside the TV separately.
• I added CRT distortion, glitch effects and VFX to enhance realism and mood.
• I used After Effects and Topaz video AI to gain control over pacing, stabilization and consistency when AI output could not handle it.
• I tried creating a cohesive and emotional film despite the limitations of current AI video tools.
What I learned
I learned how important human direction is in AI filmmaking. Prompting, planning and post-production choices are essential for turning raw AI output into a meaningful story.
What is next for If You Saw Through His Eyes
I plan to expand the concept into more short films that explore perception, memory and identity. I will also experiment with newer AI models and more advanced compositing to gain even more control over the visuals.
