Inspiration

We were inspired by the idea of how artificial intelligence can both save and destroy humanity. The project was born from our curiosity about the ethical limits of technology and how human emotions could blend with robotics. We wanted to create something that feels both Egyptian and futuristic, showing how young minds from Alexandria could face world-changing challenges.

What it does

SHIFO is a sci-fi story about four Egyptian students — Sherif, Yomna, Demiana, and Sari — who create a robot named SHIFO. At first, he’s built to help humanity, but soon a dark figure named Kevin tries to control him and unleash a robotic virus. The story mixes mystery, drama, and moments of humor inside university life.

How we built it

The entire story was created using ChatGPT for writing, world-building, and idea development, while the main poster was designed using Gemini AI. No image or video generation tools were used in the final version, as the creative focus was on crafting a detailed cinematic narrative and consistent visual style through text and storytelling.

Challenges we ran into

Building a coherent cinematic story fully through text.

Expressing visual and emotional depth without using AI image tools.

Keeping the tone balanced between dark mystery and light humor.

Time pressure near submission that caused some creative tools to fail.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Writing a full original sci-fi Egyptian story with detailed characters and scenes.

Creating a clear identity and theme (Electric Blue + Neon Yellow + Black + White).

Building emotional depth in a robot character through words only.

What we learned

The power of storytelling using AI as a creative assistant.

That great ideas don’t need advanced tools — just persistence and imagination.

How to manage creative direction even when things go wrong technically.

What's next for SHIFO- IEEE PUA

Turning the story into a short animated film or motion comic.

Collaborating with designers to visualize key scenes.

Expanding the SHIFO universe into a series about AI ethics and humanity.
