💡 Inspiration We’re surrounded by plugged-in devices — phone chargers, routers, TVs — most of which stay idle for hours every day. While invisible, this “vampire power” silently eats away at our wallets and the planet. We wanted to build a tool that makes this invisible problem visible, helping users save energy, money, and emissions in a fun, informative way.

⚙️ What it does IdleEater is a web-based calculator that shows how much electricity, money, and CO₂ emissions your idle electronic devices waste each month. Users select devices, input usage patterns, and instantly see interactive visual feedback — including real-world equivalents (like “X kg of coal burned” or “Y trees cut”) and smart tips to reduce idle power.

🛠️ How we built it We built IdleEater in a single Bolt.new prompt, using a combination of:

Tailwind CSS for responsive UI

JavaScript logic for energy + cost + emissions calculation

Framer Motion for subtle animations

Lucide icons for a clean, modern look Everything is rendered client-side, allowing the app to run fast and offline with zero backend.
