Inspiration
Before leaving for the hackathon, we sat down to make a to-do list for everything we have due on Monday. It's safe to say that we were "cooked." We didn't think we could finish our project and everything we had due on Monday. We managed to complete all the readings we had due on Monday, whilst testing the website. When we used services similar to this, like content-to-brainrot video generators, the main issue we faced was that we only got short summaries that didn't help much. When we ranted about how much work we had to our friends, they lowkey said IDK, Ask AI– we did exactly that!
What it does
IDK, Ask AI converts boring 60-page lecture notes and 25 slide PDFs (which make staring at a wall seem interesting) into easy-to-understand, detailed, and engaging brainrot paragraphs.
How we built it
We used Python, Gemini-API, Flask, CSS, HTML, JavaScript, and deployed using Render.
Challenges we ran into
Ensuring that the AI was consistent with every response and every PDF that was uploaded received equally sassy brainrot content was pretty challenging. The constant running out of API credits did add to the tension.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're happy that everything on our to-do list was completed, and about not accidentally leaking our API key
What we learned
We learned how to use Flask and deploy using Render
What's next for IDK, Ask AI
We would love to expand across devices and transition into a mobile app, Chrome extension, and maybe a Notion extension as well!
