Inspiration

Often times the younger generation such as Gen Z and Gen Alpha come up with creative ideas that have the ability to impact the world. Unfortunately, most of the time younger innovators don't have the skills or access to passionate peers to get their projects off the ground.

What it does

At GreenHouse, we developed an app that allows those with innovative and creative ideas to get their projects off the ground by asking for assistance and knowledge from mentors and peers. In contrast to a resume, interested peers can share their interests and previous/current projects through the “Proof of Passion” system, helping those with aligning ideas discover each other and truly connect. GreenHouse represents an impact completely different from other competitors as it concentrates on allowing innovators to find and communicate their ideas with like-minded individuals who want to work with them. The platform gives users the ability to connect with people from their age group and in their community to express themselves through the form of creative innovation. When someone has an idea, but lacks the materials or the expertise to begin designing or creating, GreenHouse makes it easy to get help and actually create instead of letting the idea wither

How we built it

We used a variety of different technical components to build GreenHouse and the main page, we used VS Code live share to collectively work together. The Hackathon.Html file is the main body of the website with the header, body, and more. It has 6 hardcoded posts and includes the proof of passion gallery. Index.html links the CSS and is used for the styling of the website by using a dashboard intro building on different user ideas and progression. The Skibidi CSS is skin of the code as it incorporates different styles and UI with a favicon, availability badges, color pallete, and more. Finally, we used projhack.js for data management as it holds the  messages, account storage, and more.

Challenges we ran into

Some problems that we hit was that the Vercel link on the github isn't a proper replica of our real website because Vercel isn't compatible with the HTML files we used in VS code. Thus, the code we sent runs differently than the demo that we show in the video. We ended up switching to Trinket to run our app so that it looks how we intended it too and so that the general public can access the best version of our website.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Overall, we are proud of GreenHouse's practicality in the real-world fostering communication and expression around the world. Furthermore, the ability to log in and see other projects is also a feature that we are proud of.

What we learned

We learned how to combine HTML, CSS, and JS all together to come up with a working prototype, we also used trinket as a way to publish our website.

What's next for Greenhouse

What's next, at GreenHouse we want to publicize and make our platform available to passionate teens and people of all ages to become mentors, peers, and more. Making a social media account and cleaning up various features is also vital.
