Inspiration
The 21st century poses unique challenges on the employees to constantly reinvent themselves, while oo many companies rely on CVsfill open jobs. Andromeda solves this problem by applying AI to recommend employees their next career steps based on their current skill set while helping companies to identify candidates for open positions within the organization.
What it does
Employees login with their skill profile and discover relevant open job positions within their organization. Recruiters use their existing job descriptions to automatically identify employees who are ready to step up.
How we built it
We built the recommendation engine with Python. We used React in the frontend and Flask for the backend.
Challenges I ran into
Antonia: React routing is difficult Jan: Deploying the running backend on any server Azure/Heroku. Ended up building a docker that's running the server just fine, but ran into issues getting the docker live on Azure. Leander: Unstable internet connection was an issue.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
Antonia: Jan: Building a recommender system in a day (took a month during my thesis lol). Also the first flask app & first API I've ever built. Leander: Designing a good looking landing page within an hour.
What I learned
Antonia: Jan: Building a recommender system, fast. Leander: Building a React from scratch is hard.
What's next for Andromeda
Deploying the backend, prettifying the frontend, and getting the first users to test it!
