Idea Seekers™ Move & Match uses a unique Augmented Reality format to put kids in the game to make food group education fun while getting them more physically active. Kids are the controller in the game – moving their arms and hands to match foods and sort them into the correct food group.
This game format has proven engaging to kids who are interested in seeing themselves in the game and tests show it builds food recognition and food group recall. Played individually, it causes kids to get moving. Projecting it on a big screen for group competition leads to more activity and full body movement. Future development of this and other Augmented Reality games can incorporate more physical activity and additional nutrition education messages.
