Inspiration
Inefficient health record management in Eastern Africa inspired us to propose a digital health records system.
What it does
With ID Health Connect system it does the following:
- Digitizes patients' health records
- Links health records to national IDs or birth certificates
- Stores records securely in a centralized database
- Enables healthcare providers to access patients' complete medical histories with a simple ID scan
- Ensures accurate and timely access to medical information
- Enhances security and privacy of health information
How we built it
Although still in conceptual phase, we envision a user-centered design approach, leveraging digital technology to link health records to national IDs or birth certificates.
Challenges we ran into
The anticipated challenges include ensuring security and privacy, addressing the digital divide, and balancing standardization with flexibility.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Here are the accomplishments we are proud of so far: Concept Development
- Successfully conceptualized a digital health records system linked to national IDs or birth certificates
- Defined the problem statement and identified key challenges in health record management
Research
- Conducted preliminary research on existing health record management systems and digital ID technologies
Team Assembly
- Assembled a diverse team of skilled individuals with expertise in healthcare, technology, and digital identity
- Collaborated with team members to refine the concept and plan for the digital health records system
What we learned
What we Learned from Research revealed the importance of accurate and timely access to medical histories, secure storage, and integration with existing infrastructure.
What's next for ID Health Connect
Here are our next steps:
- Refine the System Design
- Conduct in-depth research on digital health record systems and digital ID technologies
Gather feedback from stakeholders and experts to refine the system design
Develop a Prototype
Create a functional prototype of the digital health records system
Test the prototype with a small group of users to gather feedback and identify areas for improvement
Secure Funding and Partnerships
Pursue funding opportunities from investors, grants, and government programs
Establish partnerships with healthcare organizations, technology companies, and government agencies to support the development and implementation of the system
Pilot Implementation
Conduct a pilot implementation of the digital health records system in a controlled environment
Evaluate the effectiveness of the system and identify areas for improvement
5.. Scale-Up and National Rollout
- Refine the system based on lessons learned from the pilot implementation
- Plan for a national rollout of the digital health records system, working with government agencies, healthcare organizations, and other stakeholders.
