Inspiration
Families on student and work visas keep scans of a dozen papers: passports, visas, I-94s, I-20s, EAD cards, approval notices, licenses. They end up in different folders and phone photos, each with its own expiry date. People usually find out a card is about to run out when they need it. These are also the last files anyone wants to upload to a cloud tracker.
What it does
Ask "What expires in the next six months for Riya and Arjun?" and the Skill searches the folders you pick plus your photo library, reads each paper, and shows one table per person: paper, last 4 characters of the number, expiry date, days left and where the file sits. It also lists papers it could not find on the NAS (for example an EAD card with no matching I-797 notice) and names or dates that do not match across papers. It can save the list as a note or tag the files, only after you approve. It never gives legal advice and never shows a full document number.
How we built it
It is a Markdown Skill for Uliya. The parent Skill only delegates: file-agent finds candidate files, document-agent reads the PDFs and cross-checks one person's papers, photo-agent reads card photos, knowledge-agent saves the note, and file-agent adds tags. Each step uses the real paths returned by the step before it, and every delegation state (completed, failed, cancelled, waiting for the user, waiting for approval) has a rule. We checked it with the UGOS Skill Creation Tool until it passed with no errors or warnings.
Challenges
Keeping it useful without crossing into advice. The Skill reports what is printed and what was or was not found, and says "not found on the NAS" instead of "missing", since a paper can exist outside the NAS.
What's next
Testing on a real NAS: field extraction from real scans, reading card photos, and the days-left math.
Tools used
Third-party components: none. The Markdown was drafted with help from Claude Code (Anthropic) and checked with the UGOS Skill Creation Tool (uliya-skill-kit 0.7.3). Everything was built during the hackathon.
