Inspiration

Many young people ignore their mental and physical health changes. Injuries, depressions, sleep schedule, etc. We wanted to develop an app that would help us recognize when we need to make changes and help us reach out to the professionals that can assists us. We wanted our health data to be actionable.

What it does

Our application consumes the data in HealthKit, provides personalized charts to show the user trends and changes over time. More importantly when it identifies a significant change it will provide the user with a more detailed description of the change and also provide suggestions and resources to address the change. For example if an avid runner has a decrease in miles run each week perhaps they have an injury that should be looked at. Our app could not only identify this change but also provide a way to call and book appointments for you.

Suddenly spending too much time on social media? The app can identify this and give a friendly phone call to make sure everything is well.

Challenges we ran into

Apple's documentation for charts and HealthKit are lacking in many areas. Creating the charts was not as easy as we expected.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud that we were able to not only show the data but also detect the changes over time and provide useful tips.

What's next for iCUrHealth

With more time we could build much more rigorous algorithms and suggestion engines for the app. Right now the app only looks at single health metric changes but in the future it could correlate between multiple metrics for example decrease in sleep and an increase in resting heart rate. With input from medical experts I expect we could make a much more thorough monitoring and suggestion system.
