Inspiration
As a team, we all experienced hardships during the covid outbreak to meet fellow industry professionals one-on-one. We wanted to create an environment similar to Omegle that allowed individuals to meet and befriend professionals within their industry interests. Therefore we built an app around the Agora video/chat SDK.
What it does
The application allows users to sign in via email/password or Linkedin. The goal is to have the User verify through LinkedIn and show proof of professionalism. Users can choose from a list of interests used to join specific video chat queues, such as software engineering, cooking, and singing. Once users have entered the video queue, they are randomly queued up with another individual to chat. Every User can friend request each other and talk through their profile page. The application also provides communities that are built around the interest selected by the User.
How we built it
We started with Figma, designing the UI around the Agora Video/Chat. At first, we wanted to create a mobile app, but we moved on to a web application due to time constraints and issues connecting the Agora video chat SDK. We created three different repositories, one for the front-end web and two others for the queue and server.

What's next for IceBreaker
We plan to continue building out our application as there are several features we could not include in the project's initial submission. These include a Profile page, Communities, and chat functionality.
