An ICE officer is stunned when the next deportation case on his desk is his own mother. A dark comedy about bureaucracy, obedience, and systems that devour their own.

Inspiration

I wanted to expose the absurd cruelty of immigration bureaucracy by pushing it to its most emotionally illogical conclusion: a system so rigid it consumes its own enforcers.

What it does

It uses deadpan acting and procedural tone to highlight the insanity of unchecked authority. The comedy comes from the tension between personal stakes and institutional coldness.

How we built it

We generated a procedural-style office, paperwork closeups, and tense mid-shots inspired by crime dramas. The acting was AI-guided for stoic expressions and slow, uncomfortable beats.

Challenges we ran into

Avoiding melodrama while keeping emotional weight. Balancing comedy and seriousness. Ensuring the twist reads instantly in such a short runtime.

Accomplishments we're proud of

The concept lands hard in seconds. It feels like a full narrative compressed into one sharp, painful punchline. The social commentary is clear without preaching.

What we learned

Satire works best when the world plays the absurdity straight. Tone control is everything.

What's next for this concept

Expanding into a series of micro-dramas about bureaucratic nightmares—from healthcare systems to policing to algorithm-driven “justice.”
