Laker IceLabs Project Update
Our Great Lakes ice forecasting project is now fully submitted for the 2025 MiSpace Hackathon! We built an end-to-end machine learning pipeline that uses historical NetCDF ice data to train a U-Net model and generate high-resolution, human-readable ice maps for the next several days.
The website is live, and you can explore our forecast maps and documentation here: https://elijahleemorgan.github.io/MiSpaceHackathon/index.html
You can also view the complete codebase on GitHub, including all data processing tools, visualization scripts, and the full model training pipeline: https://github.com/ElijahLeeMorgan/MISpaceHackathon
Our team worked hard to put this together while balancing classes, capstone projects, and internships. We learned a lot about forecasting models and fast collaboration. We are proud of what we created and excited to share it with everyone!
