Inspiration
We were inspired by Hackathons and their ability to bring people together just through the power of code. We thought about how we can connect people of different background through mutual interests.
What it does
An event organizer requests that each attendee RSVP through IceBreakers. While each attendee RSVPs, they're given a set of questions curated by the organizer. Our app sorts through this information and matches attendees so that when they arrive, there's no issue "breaking the ice."
How we built it
We designed and programmed the front-end with Swift and the Xcode IDE, meanwhile, our backend was developed using MongoDB.
Challenges we ran into
We had issues moving assets from Sketch to Xcode. A majority of our challenges that crossed our path were front-end/swift related.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We learned how to code our entire backend during the second night of our event. Our frontend team learned Swift practically overnight.
What we learned
We learned how to create databases, design with Xcode, and program in Swift and JavaScript.
What's next for Ice Breakers
We plan on adding features, consistently updating the app to ensure that the idea of events where everyone feels welcome comes true.
