Inspiration

Our game inspiration comes from years of playing simple games when boredom kicks in; games that take the stress away from daily routines, but yet challenging enough to have one keep playing over and over to beat the high score.

Play to earn games on blockchain are mostly complicated and usually require an investment to get started, which becomes more of pay to play, before it can be play to earn.

Our goal for this Jumpy Motoko to create a completely free to play game that anyone can enjoy and earn tokens while at it.

Jumpy Motoko is a completely free and fun play to earn game that is possible only on the Internet Computer with the reverse gas model.

What it does

Jumpy Motoko is a 2D side scroll platformer that involves the clicking of the mouse for Motoko to jump from block to block. It takes good skill not to miss the jump and much practice to get a good score. Whatever score you get, the score will become the JPM tokens you earn.

Keep playing, keep earning JPM tokens. JPM tokens can be used in the future for buying NFTs

How we built it

It was easy to request cycles through the guided faucet. Then it was many hours of learning how Unity development and Internet Computer development works. We then worked on the Unity WebGL game and tried different things with Internet Computer samples. Eventually we deployed Jump Motoko to the Internet Computer with reference to the Unity WebGL Sample Git repository.

Challenges we ran into

Due to work time constraints, even though we have done the R&D planned everything out; we were not able to deploy the token transfer feature to gamers.

What we learned

We learnt about cycles and canisters, Motoko, IS20 standard, Candid library, Unity WebGL and also how to deploy a Unity WebGL to the Internet Computer.

What's next for Jumpy Motoko - Play to Earn Game

We would want to spend more time to get the feature of earning tokens to work. And if we win a prize from this hackathon, or grant, or seed funding… we will work on the roadmap

• launch an NFT collection that gamers can use their JMP tokens to buy

• make the game more attractive by having different design themes and characters (maybe collaborate with NFT collections to use their design/characters in the game)

• launch more games that use our NFT collection

• plug-in an ad space to the webpage and game (advertisers can only buy ads with JPM tokens, so this will bring value to the JPM tokens)

• put up a ICP/JPM liquidity position at Sonic.ooo so that advertisers can buy JPM and gamers can sell JPM

Team

The team is Bryan and Sabrina; we are team mates in a Singapore-based Web3 Agency - SMMILE. We have been participating in evm-compatible blockchain hackathons and have won prize for NFT category, as well as Best Overall Dapp award. We would love to build a winning product at the Internet Computer!
