As a student at COAR Lima enrolled in the International Baccalaureate (IB) program, I often found myself searching for resources to help me understand specific subjects and topics, deepen my knowledge, and prepare for exams. I also wanted other students to be able to look up any topic they needed to learn, thereby improving their own understanding. This vision led me to create "IB-Easy," a tool designed to support independent study.

IB-Easy covers 16 subject areas, including the sciences, the arts, and the core components of the IB program. The current version features a library of 83 in-depth topics and 289 multiple-choice questions. Users can access explanations with varying levels of detail, review topics using flashcards, complete subject-specific activities, and track their progress. Each subject is organized into concrete topics; if the application lacks sufficient material on a given subject, it explicitly states this, rather than providing irrelevant or misplaced content.

I developed this interface using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, with the assistance of artificial intelligence to refine the code. The project includes automated testing, a portable HTML version, and an implementation for Cloudflare Workers. The core study functions operate independently of external AI services. Although I integrated Gemini into an earlier prototype, this feature is currently disabled—given that the application is intended for a school environment—while I evaluate its suitability and potential implications regarding the privacy of younger students.

One of the challenges was integrating a wide variety of subjects while ensuring that the lessons and activities remained truly relevant to each topic. Another challenge involved designing an effective search function without creating the false impression that the application "knows everything." Working on IB-Easy has helped me realize that an effective educational tool requires clear explanations, meaningful feedback, assessment mechanisms, and honest, well-defined boundaries. My goal is to improve English translations, review more lessons in collaboration with teachers, and expand the library based on the actual needs of students. IB-Easy is an independent project; it has no affiliation with the IB, COAR, or MINEDU.
