Inspiration

This idea was lingering in our minds for quite some time now, since spending the past year in a Pandemic lockdown we found almost all services are accessible through our mobile phones except this one so we built it ourselves.

What it does

It aims to connect the donor and the one in need of the donated items through an officially registered volunteer while providing complete transparency of the process to the user.

How we built it

Built on Flutter from Google which comes bundled with Dart programming language. And the backend was also from Google - Firebase. The technology is compatible with each other so it was easy to implement the idea within the time constraint.

Challenges we ran into

The language is relatively new and there isn't much material on the net to troubleshoot some minor issues we came across also to make our idea unique while working with a commonly ignored sector of development was kind of a challenge as well.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

"It may not be much, but it's honest work". To be able to juggle this project as well as college mid seems is an accomplishment in itself. Apart from that being able to give back to society is the main aim and I think we got it.

What we learned

Learned a lot about brainstorming ideas as a team and making them work. Also, seeing the idea take shape is a win already so Hackathons such as this are quite good morale boosters to get out of the coder's block situation.

What's next for 113_MujtabaKhurram_iAid

There is so much we can do with this project. First of all the donation match algorithm can be improved using machine learning recommendation systems and next we could implement small search tags that are sent with the donated items to keep livetime track of the process.
