Inspiration: This project was inspired by my love for deep house music, particularly the South African sub-genre of house music. I wanted listeners to feel a deep emotion to the instrumental and vocals of the music, while paying homage to African sentimentality in the beats and sound of the piece.

What it does: The music is meant to be a homage to South African house music and the beauty and depth of African music through heavy beats and soulful vocals.

How we built it: The song was put together using Suno as an initial base to create the house beats and vocals. I mashed up two Suno-created songs into one, and heavily edited one of the tracks to create the unique beats and vocals that I was looking for. I used AI images I generated using the ArtsEnvoy.ai platform.

Challenges we ran into: I ran into many challenges after I had heavily edited the music and the visuals in CapCut. I think some of my animations and transitions were too heavy for export, and I had to remove and recreate some of them for a clean export of my final product.

Accomplishments that we're proud: I am proud of the instrumentals and vocals in this piece, which were heavily inspired by other South African house productions that exist, while also creating an individual and unique piece that is both true to the danceability of house and the soulfulness of African music.

What we learned: I learned that my capacity to create from a single idea is more expansive than I had imagined. I am grateful to AI platforms that exist right now that have allowed some of my creative and artistic visions to come to fruition.

What's next for I Wish I Knew: I am going to continue to create music, both in instrumental and vocal formats in a variety of genres that have inspired and influenced me throughout my life. I am also going to continue to use AI to spread positive messages, spark thought and emotion, and unite people through the love of music and film.
