"I want to date The Diamond"

Inspiration

We were inspired by a popular published fanfiction, about a woman who falls in love with The Arts Tower...and thought that other buildings deserve some love too! And honestly just thought a dating sim starring Sheffield buildings was too funny not to try XD

What it does

It's a visual novel story, surrounding the player, and their growing relationship with either The Diamond or the SU (both in anthropomorphic form)

How we built it

The project was built in Python Ren'Py, a very popular game engine for visual novels

Challenges we ran into

We had a much larger scope originally, wanting to add The Wave and The Arts Tower too, but quickly realised that it would be too much art to make, and story to write.

We originally planned to hand draw the art for this game, but due to an unforeseen circumstance, didn't have access to the necessary equipment, meaning we had to improvise with photo editing.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of the sheer amount of writing we managed to do, as well as the visual assets we made using photo editing (Both are much more time consuming than we expected)

What we learned

We learned about project scoping, and how to improvise to cut down quantity to improve quality

What's next for "I want to date The Diamond"

We're hoping to make the game downloadable online, so anyone can play this Monstrosit-I mean Masterpiece :)
