Inspiration
During this pandemic with employees at home , in order to ensure business continuity effective team work plays an important role. To make this a reality we need a one stop destination for all the users to raise issues and get them solved as soon as possible and also it becomes a necessity to track the activities of employees.
The Problem
As all Information and service sector employees are under complete work from home, everyone is facing issues like server connectivity, authorization etc. Connectivity issues may take longer time to resolve, if tried to be solved in the normal hierarchy which might affect the business continuity. It is a tedious process to explain the exact issue to respective support team, when you are in work from home. So there comes a necessity of an employee friendly issue handling tool which can improve Business continuity. Also there is a need for tracking the employees productivity during work from home. Since we are unable to track each employee in person it is highly beneficial and useful that a tool can do this and give you reports to improve the actual working hours.
What it does
This is a multi purpose application which will allow employee/employer to
- Raise issues
- search for issues raised by others and view them
- Receive broad casted messages regarding widespread outages
- Track an employees effective working time.
- Generate reports regarding employees activity and Issues
The Features
The issue tracker tool will provide an employee friendly experience to mark his issue and trace his incident/ticket. It will sent the notification to an Admin/Team Managers once the issue has been reported by the employee. Also there will be provisions for sending Acknowledgment between employee and the Admin/Team Managers The Issues tracked will provide an overall idea about how effective work from home is and there by how well the employees can work .Also the option for finding already reported issues will help the employee to save time .
The Employee tracker functionality gives a feedback on how long the employee is spending at the work station. Since during these days most work take place virtually that is at homes, direct monitoring is impossible . The tracker can monitor the user activity and will send the data to the admin/team manager. The user will have to manually start and stop the tracker.
How we built it
We Used bubble app for creating the UI.
Challenges we ran into
We used bubble for building the prototype application . Since bubble was new to us and also the free version we had limitations to complete the report functionality. Hence we had to do workarounds or keep our functionalities for future implementation.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
When we came to know about the hackathon event, we had a team pulled up in a short span of time and started working on it right away. We understood the common scenarios and issues we faced in our daily work environment at home. The challenges we faced during worktime were identifying issues accurately, for that we had to contact our colleagues or the support team each and every time to identify/solve the issue. We understood that we are in need of a quick and simple mode for reporting the issues and identifying already reported ones.
The expertise in IT sector helped us to improve the application with functionalities even though we had limitations using the free version of bubble. In the short span of time, we built a working application.
How to use?
you can login to I-tracker either as an USER or as ADMIN
In user mode:
- User can raise issues.
- User will be notified with email from admin.
- User can search for the issue raised already.
- User can see broadcast message.
- User can enable monitoring. When the user logs-in he has the option to enable monitoring by using "Track your activity" feature. By this, user can send activity report to the admin/Team Manager at the end of the day.
In admin mode: - Admin can solve the issue or inform the user with proper description. - Admin can generate reports for user activity as well as issues reported. - Admin can broadcast messages to all users. - Admin can trigger email to user regarding the issue.
What's next for I-Tracker
I-tracker can evolve as Data Analytics tool, where we can monitor and analyze issues pooled together by users working across locations. This will further reveal the hardware and software limitations across the organization.
The reporting functionality of I-Tracker can be highly scalable. This feature can be customized by admin to generate reports to see frequently reported issues, whether a particular issue is affecting business etc.
New dashboard can be added which can allow conversion between admin and user in real time. Further we can add graphs and UI component to showcase the issues and its severity to admin in more readable format.
