What it is

I Missed That is a judgment-free iPhone learning app for the useful everyday knowledge people missed, forgot, or were never taught—without grades, embarrassment, or a one-size-fits-all curriculum.

The problem

Small knowledge gaps—directions, time, measurements, money, practical life skills—can make travel, appointments, work, cooking, and everyday decisions harder. Search can answer one question, but it does not identify what someone needs, give them a memory anchor, or make knowledge stick. Asking can feel embarrassing.

The learning experience

Learners choose a focus and can start a short diagnostic with the explicit option “I don't know—teach me.” Each lesson gives a real-life explanation, a memorable rule, a believable misconception, and retrieval practice. The app separates a lucky answer from actual knowledge: a learner can mark a correct response as “I guessed,” which returns that skill to review instead of creating false mastery. Two confirmed recall proofs are required before a skill is marked learned.

A local curriculum includes 84 practical skills across 15 topic areas, with transparent review scheduling, daily quests, XP, achievements, and a visible knowledge map.

How AI is core to the project

The AI Study Coach gives a learner flexible help at the moment they need it. On supported iOS 26 devices with Apple Intelligence available, it uses Apple Foundation Models on device. The coach receives the learner's local progress and the relevant approved curriculum lesson, then can:

  • explain a skill in simpler language,
  • create a memory hook, or
  • make a three-minute review plan.

It is deliberately grounded and bounded: it does not browse the web, invent curriculum facts, change mastery, or send the learner's study context to a remote service. The deterministic curriculum and the learner's verified recall remain the source of truth; AI makes that learning loop more personal and responsive.

Built with

Swift, SwiftUI, Apple Foundation Models, XCTest, UserDefaults, optional iCloud Key-Value Store, StoreKit 2, and Xcode.

Verification

The current build passed 22/22 XCTest tests on an iPhone 17 Pro simulator running iOS 26.5, covering learning progression, honest-recall rules, review scheduling, daily quests, curriculum consistency, diagnostic behavior, opt-in iCloud backup, private idea storage, and StoreKit entitlement recognition.
