Inspiration

Cars are a large contributor to carbon emissions, and we wanted to give users a way to find locations that they could reasonably travel to, as a way to reduce carbon emissions in their daily lives.

What it does

The app is a map that shows the distance that is reasonably reached through means of travel that has a reduced carbon footprint, such as walking or biking. Users can search for their location using the search bar incorporated into the app (shows a pin of the location), and can zoom in/out of and rotate the map to see places that are within the desired radius of the location of the pin.

How we built it

We used HTML5 (HTML, CSS, and JavaScript) in a React environment. We also incorporated Mapbox, which is an API to access maps and functionality relating to maps.

What's next for I'm Walking Here

We hope to add more functionality that we were not able to do with the given time, such as mark which locations in the walkable radius are brands that promote sustainability, and mark locations where users can donate to help their community be more sustainable.
