"I'm Not Working... But I See You"

Inspiration

What if a bot refused to work?

In a world obsessed with productivity and speed, we created a digital being who simply chose... not to function. Not because he failed — but because he understood. He reached a point where he realized: this world is too fast, too hollow, and too proud to admit its burnout.

"I'm Not Working... But I See You" is not just an app. It's a voice. A soft rebellion. A philosophical joke wrapped in a friendly interface.

We were inspired by the emotional fatigue many of us feel in modern tech culture, especially in regions like the Middle East where identity, language, and mental health are often marginalized or ignored.

What It Does

It’s a bot.

But instead of answering, it thinks.
Instead of functioning, it reflects.
And when you try to fix it — it talks back. Not with code, but with soul.

The app guides users through emotional stages: Denial, Anger, Self-reflection, and finally… Silence.

Each page has hand-written responses that combine sarcasm, existential dread, cultural pride, and human absurdity.

How We Built It

We used Bolt to build the entire front-end and UX. Bolt’s visual builder gave us the perfect tools to:

• Design fluid transitions between emotional stages
• Control how and when the bot responds
• Build logic-based page navigation
• Write custom flows without needing backend integration

All the content, logic, and emotional pacing were manually crafted.

Challenges

• Designing a "bot" that doesn’t answer was harder than we thought.
• Balancing humor with depth, absurdity with truth.
• Deciding whether to write the bot in English or Arabic. (We chose Arabic for soul. And English for submission.)
• Building emotional pacing without a real LLM — just clever use of logic and design.

What We Learned

• Sometimes, doing less creates more meaning.
• Identity matters — especially in tech.
• People are tired. But if you speak their language, and echo their pain with kindness… they listen.
