I'm Bobi

Inspiration - Grandma lives alone 🥲

My grandmother lives alone in a small fishing village, and I can’t visit often. I introduced her to ChatGPT, but its tiny text, rapid responses, and overwhelming answers frustrated her. Still, she loved chatting with it. She asked, “What should I call this AI?” This inspired Bobi, an AI companion for seniors to fill a clear market gap.

What it does - 24/7 companion with no setting and login required

Bobi is an AI Agent for seniors, offering warm companionship via simulated phone calls. It chats patiently, reminds them to take meds, and detects mood changes to alert families, using large text and simple design.

How I built it - Bolt.new + Supabase = AWESOME!

I used Bolt.new to develop Bobi focusing on a senior-friendly interface. I tested multiple versions with my grandmother and other seniors, refining the UI and voice features for ease of use.

Challenges I ran into = Grandma need it to be simple!

Designing tech for seniors was tough—early versions were too complex. Simplifying the UI and adding voice interaction was key but challenging. AI voice tech is expensive, making scalability a hurdle during prototyping.

What I learned

I learned seniors need emotional connection, not just tech. Iterative testing is crucial for accessibility. I also gained skills in prototyping, user feedback integration, and voice AI implementation.

What’s next for I’m Bobi - AI Agent for Elderly

I’ll continue user testing to refine Bobi. I plan to partner with Taiwan’s telecom companies to launch the service, leveraging their networks for wider reach. As AI voice costs decrease, I aim to scale Bobi, starting in Taiwan, then Japan and North America, and collaborate with governments for global eldercare impact.
