Inspiration
We were inspired by our collective love for the videogame phenomenon 'Minecraft, which we've been playing for a very long time and all participate in servers together. Because of our love for it we wanted to use Minecraft in order to contribute to our HackUTD project.
What it does
It's a domain name, and when you enter it into your web browser of choice it takes you to a website which is currently a work in project from our team.
How we built it
We knew that we needed a domain name which utilized the ending .tech, as that was the only way the provided code would cover us and we could enter into the challenge. Armed with this knowledge and a sum total coding experience of the ability to make a line jiggle on scratch, we decided on a name.
Challenges we ran into
We didn't initially agree on what we wanted for the domain name. Originally we had some ideas like 'ilove.tech' and 'iuse.tech', which while very straightforward domain names do not have the essential character necessary to place well in any organized domain naming competition. Therefore it made logical sense to choose something that, while still descriptive of the final functional purpose of the website, had more flair and presented more of an opportunity to elicit a reaction from the judges. So eventually we came to our chosen name.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The three of us agreed on something.
What we learned
We can eventually agree on something.
What's next for Herobrine Hacks UTD
Utilizing Java we plan to code an interactive VR experience where Herobrine attempts to hunt the player and hack their real world body into Minecraft. There are two potential paths for this project: either continued as a standalone program that would then likely take the form of a real world horror game to avoid any legal issues with Microsoft and Mojang, or a mod that can be added into Minecraft to change your game to reflect the above storyline.
