I’ll Remember You Once Again

Inspiration

I was inspired by the profound and often misunderstood experience of dementia. Instead of focusing on the loss, I wanted to ask: "What if forgetting was a doorway to another reality?"

This project reimagines the inner world of someone living with dementia as a surreal, poetic universe. It's a world where fragmented memories, love, and identity persist in a different form—where "dancing with spoons" or "building staircases into the lake" makes perfect emotional sense.

What it does

"I’ll Remember You Once Again" is an experimental music video. It presents a complete audio-visual narrative where 100% of the content—the music, the spoken-word poetry (lyrics), and the surreal visuals—are generated by AI. It functions as a piece of art that uses AI to translate a complex human condition (dementia) into an emotionally resonant, alternative reality.

How we built it

This project is a testament to AI as a complete creative partner.

1. AI Music & Poetry: The journey began with the music. I used AI music generation tools like Suno and ElevenLabs Music to create an ethereal, haunting, and slightly disconnected soundscape. The AI also generated the surreal, spoken-word poetry that serves as the film's narrative core.

2. AI Visuals: The visuals were created using AI video generation tools, including Hailuo AI model. The key was feeding the poetic lyrics and emotional themes directly into the models. The entire video is a continuous flow of generated imagery, which was then curated and edited in CapCut to match the music's rhythm and the story's emotional arc.

Challenges we ran into

The biggest challenge was achieving emotional coherence. With AI, it's easy to get "cool" or "weird" images, but it's incredibly difficult to get images that feel emotionally resonant and truly connected to the theme.

Guiding the AI to maintain a consistent artistic style and visual narrative—rather than descending into random, disconnected chaos—required significant prompt engineering, curation, and countless iterations.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I am most proud of creating a project that is 100% generated by AI, yet feels deeply human and emotional.

Successfully translating such a delicate and abstract concept as the inner world of dementia into a cohesive audio-visual story, using only AI tools, is the key accomplishment. The piece doesn't just show off the technology; it uses the technology to evoke empathy.

What we learned

I learned that AI can be a powerful tool for exploring complex, abstract human experiences. It allowed me to visualize metaphors (like "gargling with soap") that would be impossible or impractical to create with traditional filmmaking.

This project taught me how to collaborate with AI not just as a tool, but as a co-creator in surrealist storytelling—learning to guide its randomness toward a specific artistic vision.

What's next for I’ll Remember You Once Again

This project feels like the first chapter. I envision "What If..." as a potential series, using this same 100% AI-generated method to explore other complex human emotions or misunderstood conditions. I am also exploring ways to create longer-form narratives and potentially interactive versions where the "reality" shifts based on viewer input.
