Inspiration: The film was inspired by the idea that even in the middle of chaos, art can still whisper hope. I wanted to capture the absurdity of war through the eyes of a violinist who refuses to fight and chooses to play instead. His music becomes both an act of resistance and a prayer for peace. It’s a story about sound versus silence, creation versus destruction, and the fragile humanity that survives between both.

What I Learned: This project taught me how powerful simplicity can be. I learned that emotion doesn’t always need words it can live in color, pacing, and sound. I also discovered how AI can become a creative partner, not just a tool, when guided by clear human intention.

How I Built It: The film was created through a combination of AI and manual editing: Voice acting was generated using Elevenlabs, to give the narrator’s voice a calm yet emotional depth. Visuals were produced with Whisk, carefully crafted image by image to recreate 1940s wartime Europe. Motion and camera dynamics were built in Google Studio, adding subtle cinematic movement to static frames using veo2. Final editing and color grading were completed in CapCut, where rhythm, lighting, and transitions shaped the final emotion of each scene. The soundtrack was composed through Suno AI, blending melancholy violin tones to represent the soul of the protagonist.

Challenges: The hardest part was merging emotional storytelling with technical precision. Each prompt had to be rewritten dozens of times to balance realism and feeling. Animating still images without breaking their atmosphere was also a challenge, especially when keeping the motion slow and poetic. Despite that, the process became deeply personal a reflection on humanity’s ability to create beauty even in destruction.

In the end, I JUST WANT TO PLAY isn’t just a film about war... it’s a quiet reminder that peace, like music, begins within.
