Inspiration
Our team got inspired to build this project as we thought maternal wellness would be an overlooked topic as well as we realized that there are complications with mother's posture angle.
What it does
This project ensures that mothers don't strain / injure their backs through trying to bend down and lift items, sitting or standing with bad posture with or without their child in hand.
How we built it
We built the project using Expo for our mobile app development, Python for our AR feature of object detection and calculation of angles. As well as using hardware (including flex sensors, arduino and more) and an old pair of leggings for the belt.
Challenges we ran into
Challenges we ran into were the selection of the material of our belt, obtaining hardware components, integration of the AR feature being consistent. Other challenges included integration of the AR feature into our mobile app to work.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Accomplishments that we're proud of was the amount of work we got done in the time given as we thought our project was very extensive. We also were proud of just what we did as a team as it was most of the teams' first hackathon.
What we learned
We learned a lot about what is needed to go from start with an idea to finish of a demo-able project. We also learned about new companies that we haven't hear of before.
What's next for I Got Your Back
What is next is the work on the mobile app and consistency of our AR feature.
