Inspiration
I spend a lot of time at a desk, like many people working from an office or from home, and it’s easy for the whole day to disappear without moving much. GetMovin came from wanting a simple way to fight that sedentary default without needing a perfect routine or a big burst of motivation.
What it does
GetMovin connects to your calendar, learns your schedule and preferences, checks the weather, and finds good times to walk, run, or get active. It also uses gamification, progress tracking, and gentle accountability to keep you engaged, so building the habit feels rewarding instead of like another task. Then it loads from health your workouts and movement/activity raw data to identify if you completed the scheduled activities (if they are phisical) automatically.
How we built it
I built GetMovin as an iOS app with a backend that combines calendar availability, user preferences, weather data, and activity goals to recommend the right time to move. RevenueCat powers the subscription flow so we can offer a polished Pro experience and Authenticat for authentication (with the native sign in with apple) and authorization (to secure the api calls to its backend).
Challenges we ran into
The hardest part was making scheduling feel simple while handling messy real-world constraints: packed calendars, changing weather, different routines, and personal preferences. I wanted GetMovin to feel helpful, not like another productivity system to manage.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We’re proud that GetMovin solves a real, everyday problem in a lightweight way. It doesn’t shame you or ask you to overhaul your life; it simply helps you notice the free moments you already have and use them to build a healthier habit completely hands off.
What we learned
We learned that habit-building is often less about discipline and more about timing. When the right moment is easy to see, taking a walk or going for a run feels much more achievable.
What's next for I get movin - Make being active a habit
Next, I want to bring GetMovin to Android, run more experiments to improve retention and conversion, make scheduling even smarter, and use AI to build a deeper, more meaningful connection with each user so staying active feels personal, timely, and achievable.
