Inspiration
Our game was inspired by the concepts from various puzzle games. We wanted to make something relatively simple and comforting. We decided to make a game around gardening as that would give us a large set of things to expand on and would be a cozy theme.
What it does
Our project is a game that gives the player plants to put in their garden. These plants grow overtime and become more and more demanding in where they are placed eventually leading to them dying and the player loosing the game if they cannot keep up.
How we built it
We building this project by starting with a brainstorming process in which we came up with ideas and an overview of the project. We then split it into different tasks everyone work on in Godot and merged through Git. In addition we designed art and music for the game.
Challenges we ran into
We ran into some challenged deciding what to make and spent a lot of time in the ideation process. After this we had some issues with getting certain parts of code to be cohesive between members and figuring out some bugs about how the tiles were getting handled.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of this game as a whole. It came together really quickly in the end and is very playable. We are also proud of the music, as well as the depth of the game with there being many interactions between the plants.
What we learned
We learned more about Godot then we had known before. We also grew in working as a group as well as helping each other to understand code better and figure out bugs as a team.
What's next for I digress
We would like to polish the games design a little more as well as flesh out some ideas we did not have the time to implement, such as a scoring system and more plants to choose from.
