Many people want to support local businesses and make a positive impact, but they often lack a convenient and transparent way to do so.

I AM HERE is an interactive location-based AR experience that combines local business discovery and charitable giving. It's a fun and engaging way for users to explore their local communities, support small businesses, and make a positive impact.

How it works

• Imagine you're walking home from work and you see a notification on your phone that Little Boba is lost at a nearby shopping center
• Open the I AM HERE app and select a mission
• Point your camera at the world around and follow the AR prompts to guide Boba to their home
• Once Boba is home, you receive a discount at a local tea shop. The shop owner also donates a portion of your purchase to a charity that supports children in need
• You've discovered a new business, had some tasty tea, and helped to make a difference in your community

How I built it

Challenges I ran into

The last 10 days were a wild rapid learning sprint since I have zero experience with Unity, coding, APIs or building an app in general. Thankfully three's a large and active online community and I was able to find solutions for most of my questions with a bit of googling.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

It was challenging and satisfying to venture into an area where I have no expertise.

What's next for I AM HERE

I AM HERE is at a very early stage. First of all I'd like to improve the UI, add more screens, and create an actual interactive 3D character to replace my simple 2D version. Next is performance improvements. Finally adding some more functionality. Ex, the app could also feature a social media component, allowing users to share their AR tokens with friends and family. This would help to spread the word about the app and encourage more people to participate.
