Inspiration:

We were tired of seeing countless social media content of influencer predicting cryptocurrencies prices. Some influencers provide evidence of their reasoning (e.g., graph prediction, patterns, etc.) however there is no evidence that what they're saying is a credible piece of information. The team also thought of how you could reward individuals for their efforts on doing research and making smart trading decisions.

What it does:

Hyro is a decentralized social media application that allows investors to allocate their resources to funds that are managed by experts in Defi and trading. These experts are called "hyroes" . Hyroes are given an APR (also called "Proof of Performance") so that individuals wishing to invest in them have an objective point of view of their expertise. A zyro will now know that investing in a hyro with a 30% APR is a safe and good choice. Every hyro has to get KYC on the Proof of Humanity protocol to ensure security on the platform. Finally, smart contracts enable zyroes to withdraw their funds at any time and automate all the tasks.

How we built it:

React and GraphQL for front-end programming was used to organize the data of the users. For back-end, to have a fully decentralized platform, data was stored on sub-graphs and mechanisms handled by smart contracts written in Solidity. Some external tools were used: Proof of Humanity to certify the hyroes. Abacus helped us KYC our users using cross-chain smart contract interaction. Polygon was used to deploy our contracts and to test our smart contracts on their test-net.

Hyro was built at the EthCC Hack 2022 venue. The team was fully present, slept at the venue and pulled all-nighters, with some intermediate naps.

Challenges we ran into

The main challenge was organization. The team has 2 back dev, 1 front dev and 1 product designer and communication was smooth since we are all friends. However, we had to be up to date with everyone's task and changes in the product (e.g., a change in the design of the website/ addition of a crucial feature meant constant organization and high speed communication with the front developer and back developer.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

The fact that we designed the product, website and coded the idea in two days suprised the whole team. We are also extremely proud of having created new connections with other teams, exchanging and complementing ideas and having interesting conversations with Abacus and Kleros to clarify our code and ask for advice.

What we learned

The team learned the importance of a diverse team when creating a new project. Organization is also crucial when the team is diverse as the multiplicity of tasks are all dependent on each other. We also learned how to use the Abacus protocol.

What's next for Hyro

The team is extremely ambitious on Hyro and look forward to continuing developing the project, but despite the ambition, we will need help to further develop Hyro into its alpha version. In terms of product development, we have identified a roadmap:

  1. Our next step is to make Hyro a fully decentralized web3 social media application using the API of the Lens protocol
  2. The second step is to welcome companies who wish to also create their own fund on the Hyro platform
  3. The third step is to integrate a 0 knowledge proof technology, from either Starknet, Mina or Hermez, to ensure anonymity.
