What was our inspiration?

Erlendur, Sarah, and Sonja met while doing their Master's in Innovation Management at Reykjavik University. The idea was born in one of their classes where they had to create a start-up.

The inspiration for the idea came from one of the co-founders who knows people that overcame addictions with hypnotherapy and could not understand why not more people were using hypnosis to treat addiction. She happened to sit next to one of the other founders in class whose mother happens to be a hypnotherapist. Lucky moment!

Overall, we want to help people with all kinds of behavioral addictions but we are starting with social media addiction because it is a very current and growing issue. The most affected group of social media addiction is young women and we feel motivated to help them and others all around the world.

What is the goal for hypnotunity?

hypnotunity's goal is to empower people to overcome their addictions by providing them with a unique tool they can use from the comfort of their own home: virtual reality hypnotherapy. This will allow our customers to lead a more grounded and healthy lifestyle, both physically and mentally.

How will we build hypnotunity?

The solution is currently in the development stage. The first steps are to create hypnotherapy sessions with our hypnotherapist partner and begin testing in collaboration with Reykjavik University.

What are the challenges we have run into?

We believe that our main challenge will be to convince potential customers to purchase VR goggles.

What are we most proud of?

We are proud of having a hypnotherapist partner on our team and to be taking the first step out of school by competing in this Hackathon. :)

What have we learned so far?

We have learned how to collaborate in a multi-cultural team through online platforms and are learning how to get answers to questions we do not know.
