Inspiration

We were inspired to do this project based on how we see every day where people from work are quickly burnt out as they could be stressed or depressed from the number of tasks given to them or how the work environment is.

What it does

Our project is basically a website that is a questionnaire of 10 questions where it asks people that work in a job how often they feel overwhelmed, stressed, our depressed based on a few problems that could be going on in their workplace. A person would answer on a scale of 0-3, where 0 is that they don't feel stressed at all and 3 is the highest where a person may feel overwhelmed every day from work. While the person is answering the questions, there is score made as it keeps track of how high of a scale the person answers. If the total score comes out to be a range of 0-10, then it just means that the person may need some tips on how to maintain a healthy mind. However, if it goes up to a range of 21-30 then is considered as high strain, meaning that the person may be developing a serious amount of depression or stress which leads our program to recommend that they have a wellness day as in taking a leave from work for a day.

How we built it

We built this website by using java to test and see if the code we had would work when we needed to add user input and then we'd check the result that would come out based on how the user answered the 10 questions. Then we would use Gemini to help create the recommendations that would be given to user which depended on how bad their anxiety or depression might be from the workplace. We would also use google and API to help create the front line and back line. Gemini is also used to create the GUI of the survey that the user would have to fill out.

Challenges we ran into

Some challenges that we ran into were deciding what idea might be best for the project or what kind of program should be used to help create the visuals of the survey. At first, we weren't sure if wanted to make a survey to capture a person's mood whether they are happy or upset or just discuss about a horrible work environment affecting a person emotionally. Then for the visuals, we tried using a website called "Lovable" to make them. However, we decided that it was better to use Gemini for this instead.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We were proud of being able to decide an idea that would be best to complete for our project under 24 hours. It was also nice to see that we were able to get the code running in java so that user is able to input their scale of 0-3 on the questions. We were able to make sure that if a user pressed a wrong key to answer a question such as pressing an alphabet or a number higher than 3 for the scale, then the program would just repeat the question until it is answered. The team was also able to get Gemini to make a nice visual for the survey and to make sure the options there were user-friendly.

What we learned

Something that we learned from this project was how to communicate well with each other and know when to ask help whenever we need it. Also, since some of us are beginners, we were able to learn to design and create a GUI while also learning to code a little more advanced. We were also able to see the importance of managing stress in a work environment and not the typical way of seeing how people in high school or college should manage their stress. We also learned the extends of how AI can help people with their health since Gemini was able to provide great recommendations that could help a person feel calmer.

What's next for Hygeia: Burnout Check and PTO Planner

The next thing for our amazing project is that we must now make sure the java code aligns up well with visuals from Gemini, so that a user may be able to interact with it and see the outcome of their results. Along, with this API will also be used to help ensure all the file run smoothly here.
