Problem
People waste water a lot most of the portion they don't ever use.
Hypothesis/Proposed Solution
People waste water because they don’t see the impact in real-time. If taps display wasted water, people will immediately change their behavior.
Test Method
- Instead of building hardware, we simulated it with a concept video prototype showing the tap + counter idea. We want to implement it in a way to use human behaviour instead of brute forcing rules. The counter will show the amount of water wasted.
- This will definitely reduce water waste each time user knows that "oh! I'm wasting a lot of water for a simple hand wash i need to do better next time and reduce waste". This kinda though will make people re-think each time using water. The main sector for this is public sectors where people waste with no consciousness so let's introduce consciousness.
- We asked our classmates if they will try to reduce waste of they saw how much they didn't use in reply we got mostly "if I'm seeing a number of course I'm gonna think about it".
What worked
The counter clearly shows waste, and users react quickly.
How We Used AI
HydroPulse doesn’t just simulate water flow, we integrated AI-powered efficiency analysis. The AI estimates:
- Water saved vs. wasted in real-time.
- User awareness level (low, medium, high) based on interaction.
- Response efficiency formation trends by modeling user behavior.
