Inspiration

We personally find organizing trips very overwhelming because of the planning for flights, accommodation, local activities, and budgeting. A centralized platform could streamline this process. So we decided to make a website on which we can organize all of our trip details.

What it does

It contains the information of various famous visiting sites from all over India covering the northern hill stations and valleys, western terrains, north-eastern landscapes, pilgrimage sacred sites, southern coasts, central plains, national parks, metropolitan cities and so on. The tour packages for various destinations are kept affordable and easier to book. The application offers functionalities of Logging into the application as an existing user, Registering as a new user, Searching various destinations throughout the country, Booking an ongoing package, Cancelling a booking, Adding a package to ‘My WISHLIST’, Displaying all the valid data of the user by keeping the underlying credential hidden, finding Coupons, Inquiries viewable to all the users and finally Logout from the application. The user can easily book any package plan by even looking at the pictures and prices. Each and every information regarding a plan is clearly presented in the interface. The booked packages can be viewed by the user on ‘Bookings’ page with the valid data required along with the booking status. The booked ticket is also available on the interface to look at and find details. The application also displays destinations suggested for the current user.

How we built it

To build the application, we required HTML, CSS, Javascript, SQL, PHP. To manage and retrieve data from the database, we used XAMPP. The backend work including extracting user input and interacting with the database was purely done by PHP. The interaction with database was implemented by PHP through executing SQL queries. The first step to building this application, HUSTLA’, was to create a valid database. We did it by creating various tables to store User details, Destinations, Packages, Coupons, Tickets, Booking details, Transaction details, etc. After this, we wrote codes for all the web pages of this website we were working on with an extension of ‘.php’. The frontend code was written in ‘.js’ format while the styling was done through CSS to have an extension of’.css’. We wrote some styling procedures in javascript only, to optimize the code. In this way, we built the application pages by pages by keeping track of the interface opening from the web browser in parallel. The different elements and images including the background images of the web pages were designed by us on Figma and Canva.

Challenges we ran into

The different web pages were required to have impactful background as the theme is ‘Holidays’. Thus, we had to design background images by ourselves. For designing, we used software : Canva and Figma. Finding different destinations to put in our website consumed a big chunk of time as we had to do a complete research on what places are most famous throughout the country and how much it costs on an average for a tour of few days, given that we include meals, guides, stays, etc.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are very proud of the way our imagination turns into our website. Our website encourages eco-friendly travel by highlighting green accommodations, sustainable tours, and carbon offset options for flights. Its visually very appealing. Its interface is so simple and smooth that users of any tech skill level can organize complex trips with ease and joy.

What we learned

We learned new tools and features from different platform. This project needs a database in which information will be store so we learned SQL and PHP in order to do it. We also formed a great bond between team members. We learned how to manage work as a team. We had a great opportunity to learn how to cope with conflicts between team members by keeping everyone feel valued and acknowledged.

What's next for Hustla' - Tour n Travel

In future, we look forward to including interactive features such as Booking Guides to accompany throughout the tour. We will include a proper payment interface to have a collaboration with Banks, UPI, Net banking and other payment modes. We are hoping to build a community for the users and add a reviews section where all the users can share their experiences with others.
