Inspiration

The inspiration for Husky’s Legacy Arena came from a real issue at our school — there was no organized way to sell tickets for events like sports games, dances, or performances. Tickets were usually sold in person using cash, which made things difficult for students who don’t carry money, parents who want to buy ahead of time, and staff who have to manage everything manually. I wanted to create a simple, modern solution that would make the process easier and more efficient for everyone involved.

What it does

Husky’s Legacy Arena is an all-in-one ticketing website built specifically for school events. It allows users to view upcoming events through a clean events calendar or a detailed list, each with titles, dates, descriptions, and locations. From there, users can purchase tickets quickly and easily through the Box Office section. For events in our school’s gym, I also included a seating chart so users can view and potentially choose where they’ll be sitting. Additional features include an Information page with frequently asked questions, a Reservation tab for booking special seats, and a Contact page to help users reach out to staff if needed. Everything is designed to be mobile-friendly and easy to navigate.

How we built it

To build this project, I used HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to create a clean and responsive layout that looks good on both desktop and mobile devices. The site structure allows users to move easily between sections like Events Calendar, Box Office, and Contact. In the future, the site is ready to integrate with payment platforms like PayPal or Stripe to handle real ticket sales.

Challenges we ran into

During development, I faced several challenges. Making the navigation smooth and professional took some careful planning. Designing a clear and easy-to-understand seating chart was another challenge — I wanted it to look good but also be simple for anyone to use. I also had to think carefully about how to organize each page so the user wouldn’t feel overwhelmed by too much information. Making the whole site responsive was also a key technical challenge that I’m proud to have solved.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Some accomplishments I’m proud of include building a multi-page website that looks clean and is easy to use, addressing a real problem that affects our school, and designing features like reservations and a seating chart that aren’t typically seen in school projects. The site feels like a real tool that could actually be used in the future

What we learned

Through this project, I learned how to break down a big idea into small, manageable parts. I also gained experience in designing for real users — thinking from the perspective of students, parents, and staff. I realized how important small details like layout, spacing, and navigation are to the overall experience.

What's next for Husky’s Legacy Arena

Looking ahead, I hope to add actual payment processing so users can securely buy tickets online. I also want to build an admin dashboard where staff can post new events, track ticket sales, and manage seating. Features like QR code scanning at the door and email ticket confirmations could make the system even more complete. My goal is to partner with our school to test this website during a real event and see how it works in action.
