How can we use consumer behaviour to prevent food waste in order to advance sustainability and inclusiveness along the value chain?

What it does: Create an application software with a QR/barcode code scanning feature. This would enable a consumer to scan a grocery store item and offer information regarding sustainable methods to preserve, prepare, and safely dispose of food in order to increase both the shelf-life and utilization of food. The App functionality is as follows:

  • Shelf-Life Education
  • Zero-Waste Recipes
  • Disposal Advisor
  • Grocery List Advisor
  • CO2 Emission Footprint Tracking

How we built it: We created a system structure and a wrote a code to scan a barcode to provide instructions on preventing waste (This was a mock demo)
