Inspiration

Recent job search experience during which is was sometimes difficult to keep track of the status of the many applications that had been thrown out into the void

What it does

Provides a simple, informative platform to help you keep track of whether your application is still floating around out there, if you've been contacted for an interview or have a job offer pending (yay!)

How we built it

Using Reactjs with the flux concept in mind for the views and expressjs for the server we had a wild time learning these new tools.

Challenges we ran into

We ran in to issues getting the initial state to be properly processed by the server and sent to the client properly. Something also seems to have gone wrong with our npm setup and two group members can no longer build the project (oops)

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are extremely proud that we made it this far. None of us had very much experience with javascript before this event and picked areas to work on that were well beyond our comfort levels.

What we learned

We learned how much fun Hackathons can be and that we can still pull all nighters when we want to (and bring appropriate amounts of caffeine). We split the work specifically so that each group member could work on something they were interested in trying but had little experience with.

What's next for Huntr

We plan to keep working on Huntr after the Hackathon ends. We have some ideas for integrating APIs from Google and Glassdoor to help provide more information about the companies you apply to as well as automatically adding cards to your job search boards as you get emails that match certain key words or phrases
