Inspiration

My company, Apple Cider Studios, is currently developing a VR hunting game for a hunting company that will be used as a promotional tool for their products.

What it does

The play will be able to hold the crossbow and fire it in virtual reality.

How we built it

The crossbow was modeled in Maya and textured in Substance Painter.

Challenges we ran into

Creating the spools on the arms of the crossbow was a challenge because of the complex shape.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

The bow looks identical to the real life one we were tasked to model.

What we learned

I have learned how to model more complex shapes and deal with lowering polygon counts of high poly models.

What's next for Hunting Crossbow

The crossbow will be animated and programed in Unreal Engine 5. Sounds will also be added to the bow to make the experience as realistic as possible. I would also like to continue getting the polygon count down to a smaller number.
