Inspiration
Camels are venerated animals in Middle Eastern culture, they are fundamentals for the feeding and welfare of millions of people.
Low reproductive performance is one of the most important factors affecting camel productivity. The genetic improvement of dromedary camels is still less progressed compared with other productive farm animals. In order to improve productive and reproductive performance of camels, monitoring and increasing efficient selection strategies in concurrent with developing assisted reproductive technologies and establishing a semen bank for elite camel breeds are urgently needed.
Actually, there is a deficiency in formal pedigree records for most of the racing camels. Missing formal pedigree records makes it difficult to analyze the herd reproductive performance.
What it does
Keeps lineage records for camels in the blockchain. Currently, the HUMPS NFT holds a DNA fingerprint hash, the tokenID of its mother, and the tokenID of its father. This can be expanded to include much more info, likely using IPFS or arweave to hold the data.
Lineage data is indexed using a subgraph which sources events and retrieves extra metadata from the blockchain using the Graph API.
The interface currently allows minting an NFT and viewing that coin's family tree.
We used Coinbase wallet in an effort to reach as many users as possible, since it provides a simplified interface that's easier for new users. We built on Polygon to decrease gas costs and increase speed, again to reach more users.

Built with a React frontend and a solidity and Graph backend.

What's next for HUMPS
We aim to offer Humps directly to the final user, we will contact Camel Reproduction Center from Dubaï, Advanced Scientific Group From Saudi Arabia and The Royal Camel Club from Saudi Arabia. Reputation subgraph for camel owners to support fair trades and honesty in the community.
