Inspiration
I wanted a piece where the artwork is not static and the player is not just navigating through it. The player changes it. Motion, hesitation, pressure, and recovery all become visual events.
What it does
Void Hop: Memory Drift is a browser-based interactive art-game. As the player moves, the system leaves fading memory trails, shifts emotional color palettes, and changes visual tone during pressure, flow, bloom, and fracture states.
What changed for Hack the Arts
The original Void Hop seed provided playable movement. The Hack the Arts layer adds memory trails, emotional palette states, and fracture/recovery color responses so interaction reads as a visual memory record — not a generic platformer.
How I built it
- browser-playable interaction base
- Three.js visual rendering
- memory-trail echoes
- emotional palette states
- capture-friendly demo mode (?demo=1)
Challenges I ran into
Making the post-seed art delta legible enough that the piece reads as interactive art instead of a renamed game.
Accomplishments that I am proud of
- Live demo on GitHub Pages
- Distinct art story from jam seed
- Demo mode for judges
What I learned
Emotional state as palette + trail memory makes interaction legible as artwork.
What is next
Richer trail decay and a fuller motion capture package.
