Inspiration

I wanted to make my lights fun and have them work with my Sonos speakers to create the ultimate home disco!

What it does

  1. Select a song you want you play from your local library
  2. Click "Play" to start the song
  3. Tap the button while following the beat of music
  4. Phillips Hue light will change color through your beats
  5. Your beats will be stored into your local storage
  6. You can retrieve your beats and playback the light beats
  7. You can edit your existing beats and make the new one

How I built it

  1. Using xcode to build an app that interfaces with Phillips Hue
  2. Using Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Indesign to build app User Interface

Challenges I ran into

  1. Ambiguity of Phillips Cue's API makes the debugging process tedious and harder

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

  1. Successfully interface with Phillips Hue

What I learned

  1. Learned about API research, ios development, and UI/UX design

What's next for HueBeats

  1. More features like cross-fading during slow tempo/low amplitude music
  2. Vibration will be giving as feedback for each tap
  3. Brightness will be determined by volume
