Inspired by location sharing in Pokemon Go and Snapchat, but we wanted to turn it into a safety app for MSU students. Penguins huddle for support. On a college campus, there is more power in numbers. If someone is in a dangerous situation others can help. When students feel uncomfortable traveling around MSU campus, they can anonymously alert other students nearby to convene to the area so they can be there to support in case of danger. User authentication involves students being verified with a student email. This will be helpful for campus traveling, general campus life, and student confidence in peers. We built it with Dart on flutter, and connected firebase. We ran into challenges like connecting firebase to flutter, putting the code to the emulator, and allowing notifications. Accomplishments we are proud of are finding the coordinates for the user location, allowing notifications, and setting up a sign in. We learned how to change directories and download packages, use flutter, and link firebase. What is next for Huddle is women empowerment. A feature to change the settings to where you show women only, female students can feel support and alert one another walking on campus. More walking in groups. Additionally, a feature to form smaller huddles. A buddy system (ex. People can show where they're going (i.e., target) and other college students going to the same place can join along).
