PROBLEM WE ARE TRYING TO SOLVE : Fear of crime increases the probability of sedentary lifestyles and due to socio-environmental factors certain populations are more exposed to that threat - World health organization Public safety is a top priority for any concerned government,

HOW MIGHT WE FACILITATE the citizens of Chicago to feel more safe and secure on the streets and in public spaces.

WHAT ? VIGILANT Is a platform that helps you be more aware about your surroundings and get alerts from First responders and news feed.

HOW ? Gives you live updates about Incidents, Potential threats, natural calamities rated by other users in your neighborhood.

Allows you to share your location with friends, family and public safety authority to get immediate help.

USP : Currently, There is no integrated platform which gives its Users live updates – specific to a geo tagged locations, – on Incidents of crime, Potential Threats, Natural calamity

How we built it?

We built using a agile software development technique, Where we ourselves act as a client and developed the functionality of the platform. The platform runs on a Python based micro framework named Flask, We used flask for hosting Restful API's and for the frontend we used bootstrap and foundation.js, for the Messaging platform we used services provided by a company Telnxy and for visualization of the map we used google maps API.

Challenges we ran into

We ran into challenges to make a fool proof application without any breakpoints due to the time constraint.
