Every day, market researchers collect valuable information from charts, news, historical events, reports, spreadsheets, and personal research notes. Unfortunately, much of that knowledge becomes fragmented over time, making it difficult to organize, validate, compare, and reuse.

HTRE (Historical Trend Research Engine) Research Lab was created to solve that problem by providing a structured research environment where historical market evidence can be collected, reviewed, challenged, and transformed into reusable market intelligence.

Rather than replacing human decision-making, HTRE is designed to improve the quality, transparency, and consistency of historical research through responsible AI assistance.

What it does

HTRE Research Lab is an AI-assisted historical market research platform that helps researchers organize historical evidence into structured, reusable research records.

The platform enables researchers to:

HTRE intentionally emphasizes research before prediction. The objective is to improve research quality through human-guided analysis instead of producing automated trading decisions.

How we built it

HTRE Research Lab existed before OpenAI Build Week as an ongoing founder-led research platform.

During Build Week, the project was significantly refined into the Founder Edition through engineering improvements, documentation, repository organization, workflow refinement, testing, and release preparation.

GPT-5.6 and OpenAI Codex accelerated development by assisting with:

Throughout the project, all research methodology, architectural decisions, product direction, and final approval remained under founder control.

Challenges we ran into

One of the biggest challenges was preparing an existing research platform for a transparent Build Week submission.

Rather than presenting HTRE as something created entirely during the event, we carefully documented which capabilities existed before Build Week and which improvements were completed during the official submission period.

Another challenge involved creating documentation that allows judges to quickly understand the architecture, research methodology, installation process, responsible AI approach, and Founder Edition improvements.

During Build Week we successfully:

What we learned

This project demonstrated how GPT-5.6 and OpenAI Codex can significantly accelerate engineering, documentation, technical writing, repository management, testing, and release preparation while keeping humans responsible for research methodology, critical thinking, and final decision-making.

The experience reinforced that AI is most valuable when it augments human expertise rather than replacing it.
