Inspiration
In a world of endless distractions, sometimes the simplest games hit hardest. I wanted to build something that could instantly pull someone out of boredom. No tutorial, no learning curve, just pick it up and play. The classic Snake game is timeless for a reason: it's addictive, quick, and universally fun.
What it does
A fully functional Snake game built entirely in vanilla JavaScript with no external dependencies or assets. The snake moves on a grid, eating food to grow longer while avoiding walls and colliding with itself. The game keeps track of score and snake length in real-time. Features:
Smooth 20x20 grid gameplay Keyboard controls (arrow keys or WASD) Pause/resume functionality Responsive UI with modern gradient design Works anywhere, just open the HTML file
How we built it
I kept it intentionally simple: pure HTML5 Canvas for rendering, vanilla JavaScript for game logic, and CSS for styling. No build tools, no frameworks, no assets to create. The entire game runs in a single HTML file, making it instantly playable and deployable.
Challenges we ran into
The challenge was optimization, keeping the update/draw cycle smooth while handling collision detection and random food placement efficiently.
What's next for Html_Snake
I don't know, lets first see if the real snake gets updated.
