Inspiration
We were beginners in learning to code HTML and CSS and we realized how we were both taught differently. We combined what we liked from the way were taught into this project.
What it does
The game provides you with resources for learning code. It also provides practice prompts towards the end to enhance already acquired skills.
How I built it
We built the game using MIT's Scratch program.
Challenges I ran into
It was difficult to incorporate many elements within the time limit. The program also did not allow us to embed videos which were a key part of our idea.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
The button coding required a lot of preplanning. To make each button respond appropriately, they had to be individually colored and coded.
What I learned
It is important to plan your projects ahead of time and start early. Because we started later in the hacking timeline, we weren't able to finish incorporating most of our features.
What's next for HTML & CSS Space Adventure
In the future, it is important that we add interactive videos, quizzes, and individual prompts for each level. We wanted the prompts to be randomly generated on each click. We also wanted to incorporate a Test-Out option that allowed you to take a short quiz that determines your skill level.
